Max found the sticker on the ground at recess. It was bright and swirly, like someone had mixed every crayon together and spun them into a circle. He wiped it off on his shirt and stuck it on his water bottle.

That night, while he was doing homework, he noticed something strange. The colors on the sticker weren’t staying still. They wiggled just a little, like they were waking up. Max leaned closer. The middle of the swirl looked deeper than before, like a tiny tunnel.

“Okay… that’s weird,” Max said.

He reached out and tapped it. His finger slipped right through, like the sticker wasn’t really there at all. Max pulled his hand back, then slowly leaned in again. The swirl began to spin faster and faster until it gave a soft little pop and pulled him in.

Max landed on something soft and bouncy. When he stood up, he saw he was in a colorful place where everything looked friendly and a little bit silly. The ground changed every time he stepped. First it was pink grass, then it turned into fluffy blue clouds, then into tiny rainbow tiles that made a cheerful “plink” sound.

“Hi there!” said a small voice.

A tiny creature floated up beside him. It looked like a mix between a bird and a paintbrush, with soft colors dripping gently from its wings.

“Welcome to the Vortex,” it said. “This is where colors like to play.”

Max took a few steps and laughed as the ground bounced under his feet like a trampoline. Little candy-shaped trees swayed nearby, and soft, glowing bubbles floated past his face.

“This place is amazing,” Max said.

“It changes however it wants,” the creature said. “That’s what makes it fun.”

Max spun around, watching the colors shift and sparkle. Everything felt light and happy, like a really good dream.

“Can I come back?” he asked.

“Of course,” the creature said. “You just have to remember how.”

Max looked down and saw the swirl again, small now, just like the sticker. He took a deep breath and jumped.

With a gentle pop, he was back at his desk. His homework was still there, and everything looked normal again.

Max looked at his water bottle. The sticker sat quietly, not moving at all.

He smiled.

Now he knew that whenever he wanted a little adventure, all he had to do was take another look.
